WHAT IT CAN HELP WITH
Long hours seated at a desk or standing can cause headaches, neck pain, and lower back pain. Our busy lives leave us open to strain and stresses on our bodies and mind - often we don’t even realise what’s out of balance until it’s corrected.
Relaxation massage is a wonderful way to pamper yourself. To de-stress your body. Quieten your mind. To loosen those tense muscles. To restore your body back to balance - and a blissful state of relaxation.
Massage for stress and depression
Massage can help with hypertension related to stress and can have a significant effect on people with depression, according to 17 studies conducted with 786 people. Evidence based research has found massage to:
- Improve blood pressure
- Reduce anxiety and depression
- Improve vitality, general health, positive well-being
- Lower blood pressure
What you may feel after a session
It’s different for every person, though it’s common to feel any combination of:
- A sense of peace
- Calm mind
- Tired and relaxed
- More peaceful sleep
We’ll use a variety of relaxing techniques to give you a restorative full body massage. You choose the pressure that will help you best relax your mind and body:
- Rhythmic, flowing strokes
- Gentle manipulations
- Hot stones (if therapy is selected)
Hot stone therapy
Hot stone therapy is an enjoyable complement to any relaxation massage. Warming the muscles with smooth hot stones has so many benefits:
- Helping with insomnia
- Relieving stress
- Boosting the immune and nervous systems
- Improving circulation
- Emotional healing
Hot stones are placed on key areas of the body (usually the back) and used to massage the body. The stones are heated to your comfort and are used with oils.
We’ll set up a warm room with soothing music and dim lighting. You’ll be treated to a relaxation aromatherapy oil blend suited to your needs: anxiety, headache, muscle ease blends and more.
Examples of oils we may include in a relaxation blend include ylang ylang, chamomile, and lavender.
If you have preferences or allergies, please let us know and we’ll tailor a blend for you.
